Fordham University Roundtable
Join Switchboard and fellow communications and alumni professionals at Fordham University in Manhattan on Thursday March 1, 2018 for a day-long discussion of all things “digital engagement.”
Online interaction now underlies much successful advancement programming. But the landscape continues to change rapidly.
In this day-long facilitated conversation, you’ll join fellow New York communications and alumni relations experts to look at the opportunities and challenges of digital outreach today. And you’ll hear from the leading thinker (and doer) in higher ed advancement digital engagement, Cornell University’s Andrew Gossen.
Andrew kicks off our day with a provocative look at the state of online engagement. We will then share our insights and successes (and a few frustrations) to educate each other about where things are headed.
KEY QUESTIONS WE'LL ADDRESS
How do we balance graduates’ expectations with institutional leaders’ goals?
What’s next for the web? Are we getting the most from our front-end communities?
Have we learned how to apply social media to benefit our institutions and our audience members?
Round Table Round Robin: What’s your biggest need or question in 2018?
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
The top ways that higher ed professionals are benefiting from digital engagement
How much staff time and budget to commit, and what to expect in return
How to announce less and listen more, using what you learn to shape engagement
What advances in machine learning and big data mean for us
And to top it all off, you’ll expand your professional network by meeting other New York-area experts whose work you can learn from (and who can learn from you).
This Round Table discussion is not a series of presentations. It’s a thought-provoking conversation with colleagues, designed to give you and fellow alumni practitioners the chance to ask about what you need to know, and to offer what you already know. Ask the questions that keep you awake at night and head back to your work with renewed insight and motivation.
Andy Shaindlin, Vice President at Switchboard will guide the conversations and keep us on topic (although we’ll have the time and flexibility to discuss almost anything that’s on your mind). Andy has almost 30 years of experience in alumni engagement and global consulting.
Andrew Gossen, Executive Director (Digital), Cornell University Alumni Affairs & Development. In a 15 year career spanning time at Princeton and Cornell, Andrew focuses on using digital technologies (including social media) to build and mobilize audiences on behalf of organizations.
This is a limited-space opportunity: registration is capped and we expect the Round Table to sell out. The cost is $295 per person for the first registrant from your organization, and just $265 for additional participants from the same institution.
